Review- "Baby Loves Disco" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Dancing shoes are on.
William, Freddie and I went to the "Baby Loves Disco" show (more like party) at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last Saturday and it was a hoot and a half. I didn't realize the venue was going to be an actual Edinburgh nightclub (shows how much I'm out clubbing these days)- we even got our hands stamped going in. :)

Craft time! My camp counselor skills coming back.

The whole thing was very well organized- there was a DJ spinning tracks, tons of balloons and scarves and shakers to dance with, healthy snacks and several other activity rooms in case the little guys and gals (and parents) needed to rest. One room had face-painting, one had crafts and another had costumes the kids could dress up in.

Trying to hold as many balloons as possible.
It was 2 hours long- which is great bang for your buck- but Freddie got tired so we just stayed for the first hour. Hopefully next year he'll be able to hang in there for the full par-tay. I think it's a perfect Fringe activity for any kid that loves to dance so, Moms and Dads- get your dancing shoes on and go!

Freddie shows off his crazy dance skills in the video above. Check it out!

Photo of the Week- "I can do it myself"

More like photo of the month but anyhoot- here's a pic of Freddie from dinner the other night. We have both have colds (booooo) so we had a nice meal of lentil soup with fresh bread and Babybel cheeses (a Freddie fave). Freddie is getting really good at feeding himself with a spoon and fork. He really seems to have turned a corner with it over the past week or two and can now get the majority of the spoon's contents into his mouth. Way to go Fred!

A Rad Time in Strad

Freddie, William and I just got back from vacationing in the lovely town of Stradbally, Ireland for a week. Freddie had a blast playing with his Nana and Popeye, his four Irish cousins and other relatives. Despite not seeing most of them for awhile (besides on Skype), he wasn't shy at all and immediately started exploring all that Strad has to offer.

We went to the playground, the lake and, of course, the annual Stradbally Steam Rally. This event is always held the first weekend of August and I'm proud to say I have attended each year since I met William. That's 8 years! Wowzers. :) This year was one of the best due to the sunny weather and a great live band. We spent most of our time dancing but also took in the steam engines, tractors and a small petting zoo.

What a trip!

Our first family road trip!

Last weekend, William, Freddie and I joined my sister Margaret and her bf Andy on a road trip down to England. We went to Hampton-in-Arden- Andy's hometown and a cute little village by Birmingham.

H-in-A is about 300 miles from Edinburgh so we had a lot of fun on the drive- we sang songs ("Backwards Land" - amazing video alert!), ate lunch and gave Freddie lots of fun items that are usually restricted (namely our phones, wallets and sunglasses). We also listened to the sound machine (crashing waves) when Freddie needed to take a snooze. Yawnnnnnnn. It was a tricky business trying to get Freddie to fall asleep while also trying to get William (our driver) to stay awake!

We had a wonderful time staying with Andy's mom (the original owner of our tomato plant!) and meeting other members of his fam. We also managed to take in a cricket game on Sunday (congrats to The While Lions on the big win), which really completed our English weekend.  Margaret and I even helped man the cake stand!
